Read below for some other quick ideas to stay active and healthy even if school is cancelled:
- Get bundled up and go for a walk in the snow! Snow is beautiful, and depending on how much snow there is, walking in the snow can activate different muscles as you lift your legs up high over the build up. Make sure you check with the adult at home before plowing out in the cold!
- Go sledding! Although sitting on a sled isn't very active, pulling a sled up a hill before you sit on top definitely is! Make sure you talk with an adult at home to make sure you are being safe when sledding. Be sure to stay away from roads, parking lots, running water, and obstacles.
- Dance party. Put on your favorite tunes and rock out. Dancing can elevate your heart rate and start some serious sweating. Get your body moving and stretch your muscles to avoid injury.
- Yoga or power stretching. Yoga and stretching are calming activities, but are still great for your body. Bend, stretch, sway and use the muscles in your core (your stomach and back muscles) to hold your body steady while balancing.
- Make up your own game. If you have a deck of cards, dice, and some space-- you have a game! Think of your own way to exercise your body safely using items you have at home.
