Greer PE teachers want to say a big THANK YOU to all who participated in our Jump and Hoops for Heart events. Every student had the chance to participate in fun PE activities on Thursday or Friday during their class. Thank you to families who helped student fundraise and donate cups for our water station. Students had a great time! Greer students have raised over $1,000 to benefit the American Heart Association, AWESOME!

On Friday, March 11th Greer hosted a "Dance Battle" after school for elementary students across ACPS. Greer students had the opportunity to meet and dance with students from Agnor-Hurt, Scottsville, Meriwether Lewis, Stone-Robinson, and Broadus Wood. Visiting teachers and students taught dances to the group that they know from their individual schools. Greer students learned A LOT and had a great time doing it! We hope to host again next year and present our own Greer dance!
This year the Specials team of art, music, library, and PE hosted a 'Specials Night' at Greer. Each team of specialist was so happy to see our Greer students and families back at school to explore the curriculum and activities from our classes.
Each student was sent home last week with either a Jump Rope for Heart or Hoops for Heart informational packet. This packet includes a letter and a fundraising envelope. Students have the option to raise money for the American Heart Association to support individuals with special hearts. In return, based upon the amount of funds raised, students may receive cool "thank you gifts" from the AHA to show their appreciation. These gifts are listed in the packet. Greer Geckos have already been so generous! If your student needs another packet, please send them to their PE teacher. We have English and Spanish versions of each packet.
Students can also register online if interested in collecting donations. Here's how:
Fundraising is completely OPTIONAL. Thank you for your support! Mrs. Carpenter's 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes start a volleyball skill unit as the month of March begins. Look at our awesome 3rd grade geckos coach and assess their peers to success with the underhand serve.
