Mrs. Bond, Mrs. Tolley, and Mrs. Carpenter are having a great time working with our Greer students in PE. Already our students are remembering rules and procedures and applying them to fun PE games and activities. One of our favorite games for grades 3-5 is 'Boiling Peanut Butter Pit'. In this game, students work cooperatively to achieve team success. Students start on one side of the gym and use the equipment provided to get each member across the gym floor without letting their body touch the ground! Teammates use strategies like using a jump rope to pull team members on a scooter over to a safe mat. Students also work on honesty and fairness by beginning the challenge again if they accidentally touch the 'boiling peanut butter'. Look below to see some of our awesome Geckos using teamwork, strategy, and their muscles to succeed in a crowd favorite PE game.
Hello Greer Geckos! Your teachers have been hard at work this week during our teacher work week. Everyone is preparing for the new school year by organizing classrooms, getting books ready for you to read, and setting up equipment and supplies for you to learn with.
PE in particular is so excited to share with you the awesome things that have been happening in the olympics! What has your favorite part been so far? Who is your favorite olympic athlete? This year the PE team is also happy to introduce Mrs. Tolley to the staff. Mrs. Tolley comes to us from Broadus Wood. You might recognize her when you see her because Mrs. Tolley has done long term substituting at Greer in years past. Mrs. Tolley is an awesome teacher and brings exciting new ideas for games and units. We can't wait to get the year started! Check back regularly for updates and information from your favorite PE teacher.s |
