Since returning from Spring Break, we have been rockin' and rollin' here at Greer. PE classes are now officially rotating through our outdoor locations for teaching spaces and our Geckos are soaking in all the knowledge they can get. The weather has been beautiful and PE classes are enjoying the sun participating in lessons on the field and blacktop. Please help your student to remember to wear sneakers on their PE days so they can participate safely. While two classes take their turn at outdoor rotations, one class uses the gym.
This week Mrs. Carpenter's class has been using the gym to take part in awesome lessons. K-2 classes are reviewing and mastering locomotor movements to include the run, skip, leap, hop, jump, gallop, and side slide. Students are using these movements in a math dice game, on zig-zag, straight, and curvy pathways, by following the leader, and in fun relay activities. 3-5 students are working cooperatively to create an original PE game. 4th and 5th graders will present their game to their classmates and teach the group how to play. There have already been AMAZING ideas being discussed. Our students are truly so creative. They are finding and using equipment in new ways to achieve a group design. I can't wait to see these games in action.
